Memorial Trees are a moving and beneficial way to honor someone living or
dead. They are a living remembrance of a loved one or the celebration of a
special event such as a birth. Trees provide a sense of belonging to the
community plus beauty, shade, oxygen, habitat and food for animals, and many
environmental benefits.
The Memorial Tree Program is a partnership of the Fall River Garden Club, the
Fall River Street Tree Planting Program, and the City of Fall River. The
Program is seen as an opportunity to help rebuild our urban forest by the
donations of family and friends and to have the option of viewing that donation
right here in Fall River.
Trees will be planted in spring and fall. April 1st is the deadline for
submitting a request for spring planting. Special ceremonies can be held
when the trees are planted. The city will not place plaques or markers to
identify memorial trees but a written request for a ground level marker may be
obtained from the Park Dept. Placement of the marker will be the
responsibility of the family.
The Program is not responsible for replacement of trees that do not survive.
