CELL PHONE RECYCLING

The Fall River Street Tree Planting Program, Inc. is collecting cell phones to help with funding its tree planting program.

The Tree Program was instrumental in planting trees at North Park, Abbott Court, Pulaski Park and at Durfee High School.  In 2006 thirty trees were planted at Durfee around the War Memorial and on school property.  350 trees have been planted along city streets, in parks and schoolyards since the Tree Planting Program was started.  Through the planting of trees the Fall River Street Tree Planting Program has been a strong advocate for promoting a healthy environment for all Fall River citizens.

Boxes for the collection of cell phones have been placed at Bristol Community College Library, Stop & Shop at 213 Mariano Bishop Bouvelard, M.J. McNally Real Estate Office at 383 June Street and in Matt Desmarais's Office, Room 322B at Durfee High School.

Cell phone recycling can help the environment by keeping mercury and other toxic materials from contaminating the air and water supply.

The Fall River Street Tree Planting Program needs community support to continue its tree planting program; please help by donating your used cell phone.

Applications for tree requests may be downloaded from WWW.FALLRIVERTREES.ORG, obtained at the Main Library or at the Park Dept. at 450 Middle Street.
