Volunteer Training Program?
What does the class consist of? Practical information on trees, how they grow, tree selection and identification, pruning, planting and maintenance.
When is the class? Start date Thursday Feb. 23rd 7-9 pm and every Thursday for total of 6 classes plus 3 outdoor sessions on Saturdays. Dates and time for outdoor sessions TBA. Free for Fall River residents with exception of $15.00 for registration fee to BCC. Info. at www.bristolcc.edu under noncredit course Home & Garden. After completion of course volunteers are expected to provide 20 hours per year to tree planting/maintenance. Arborists and urban foresters Andy Hillman and Emily Hamilton of Davey Resource Group will be instructors. The course is part of a Challenge Grant awarded to the city from the Mass. Dept.of Conservation and Recreation.
