FEATURED INITIATIVES

TreeWalk.jpg

At the advice of City of Fall River Arborist Moriah Day, and with support from the FRSTPP and the Greening the Gateway Cities Program, Kennedy and North Parks, and the Oak Grove and North Burial Ground cemeteries, will have 10 or more trees per location labeled for a self guiding walk. All under a mile, the walks will allow walkers to identify by name the type of tree and how it benefits Fall River’s urban forest. Trees provide benefits all year round, like shade in the summer, and food and shelter in the winter. Seasonal information and walking path maps will be posted soon.

FALL RIVER TREE WALKS

The Tree Division of the City of Fall River has an application for all residents for a tree to be planted in a front yard of a business or residence at no cost. Applications are accepted year round and can be submitted via email to cemetery@fallriverma.org. If approved following a site assessment, plantings occur in spring (April-June) and fall (September-November).

More information about this program can be found on the City of Fall River website.

Planting Trees

FRONT YARD TREE PROGRAM

In February 2023, the Davey Resource Group completed a Public Tree Resource Analysis and Maintenance Schedule Report for the City of Fall River. Through this iexercise, every public tree was assigned a risk rating, a maintenance schedule, and a maintenance budget. It will also help to ensure the right trees are planted in the right places in the future. Read more here.
